Vacuum powered rotary tool
The VRT1 offers an innovative design to generate turbine-powered rotary power at 30,000rpm. This Dremel tool converts a wet/dry vacuum into a power source for tools as well as removing and collecting dust from the work area. The ergonomic grip area is designed for usability to reduce hand fatigue and offer a variety of user options for grasping the tool.
The PlusD2 team worked directly with the Dremel Engineering team to create this turbine-powered tool. The key focus was understanding the ergonomic function and user interactions of a tool connected to a vacuum. A variety of options were developed to evaluate the function of the unit and each individual accessory. Additionally, our team looked to build upon the Dremel aesthetic, incorporating the functionality of the adjustable speed control.
The communication and feedback with the internal Dremel engineering team allowed for a smooth development process; indicative of a working relationship that has spanned a period of nearly 15 years.
